Too many in this movement, too often, dismiss athletics as bread and circuses.
There is some validity to this position as, for many in our society, sport has become the paramount cause. Everyone has known families that skip church to watch the game. Too many can name every offensive lineman but have never known the names of their legislative representatives.
Still, sport is an important domain in American life, and abandoning the domain is a mistake. Tonight on Culture of Change, Ashe and Abs are joined by J.B. White to discuss change makers in sport and the importance of reclaiming American culture and values.
The 1980 US Olympic Hockey team were change makers.
Colin Kaepernick, Tim Tebow, Deion Sanders are change makers.

I disagree with this "The 1980 US Olympic Hockey team were change makers." It was memorable, but it didn't change our culture. The US Olympic participation shortly thereafter changed because we started letting professionals compete. Which had nothing to do with the hockey teams win.
