Who among us has not questioned our past and the path that was chosen? Yes, everyday is like a wrung on a ladder and every step is based on the one before. Today I am content with knowing wherever I go there I am. I embrace my past and do not want to shut the door on it. It has made me who I am ... a child of The Almighty.

Beautiful, honest, poignant. My son is 27 and if I could do it all over, I would have been a stay-at-home mom and not even worked part-time.

Thank you for citing and linking today's News Brief to this article. I am old enough to be your mom. I soak in your wisdom each weekday in the Badlands News Brief and feel like I know you, "daughter". This article touched me and brought tears to my eyes because "The days are long, but the years are short." My hubby and I raised three sons and we made a similar "pact" to have our children raised by us. I was blessed with a daddy engaged in the home, as well, but that was no surprise, because I sought out a man of my dreams, who would be the daddy of my dreams to our children. I was able to teach foreign language (Russian and German) part-time, and between the first and third baby their dad took a second shift managerial position so we could share the child-rearing duty. As I mentioned teaching Russian, I bring it to your attention, because majoring in Russian afforded me a semester in the USSR in 1976. Unfortunately for me, I was not so knowledgeable of global politics and systems, as you were at my age of 20, (I was young and dumb), but my world view was shaped in that semester, as I experienced the oppression of communist totalitarianism that plows over the dignity of its citizens at every turn. I applaud your naming communism for what it is - AND IT IS HERE IN OUR AMERICA- every chance you get in your writing. I so enjoy all the Badlanders and while it's a bitter redpill to swallow each time I read an article that proves my adult life has been "one giant bamboozlement", I am grateful. Truth matters. That's why my day also begins with The Word of God. What amazes me the most about the citizen journalists I follow, is I eventually learn that nearly 100 percent of them are believers. For me and my sanity, it is divine intervention through and through.

Thank God for you, and thank you for blessing my day!!

Ashe, thank you for sharing the love. Love for your Father God, and all he as wrought in the loving arms of your family. Thank you from all of us, for living outside the box and thinking outside the box and causing us to challenge our own self-imposed limitations. Your son is beauty to behold.
